To participate is to understand the value of water sources as generators of life. Therefore, this resource plays the lead role in the programs developed by the Foundation.
TERRITORY´S ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PROJECT FOR A HEALTHY FAMILY AND COMMUNITY LIFE
Co-financed by the German MISEREOR NGO, it covers as its main lines of action: the empowerment of the Community Action Boards (JACs by their Colombian Acronym) as leaders of their territory; the management of discharges in the upper and middle basin of the Bitaco river; the planting of native trees; the works for potable water for its settlers and the comprehensive management of solid waste, with the aim of contributing to the integrated management of the territory and to reaching higher levels of sustainability.
RECYCLING HAS VALUE
With the support of the Participatory Fund for Environmental Action of the Valle del Cauca´s Regional Autonomous Corporation (CVC by its Colombian acronym) and the active participation of the JAC, we train families in source separation, eco-gardens and composting, in addition to making good use of recyclable resources. The six townships have Places to Classify and Store waste and are starting their recycling business. With this system we have implemented added to technical, economic and human efforts, we benefit 425 families from 6 rural communities that are part of the Township.
All actions are intertwined with the educational component, focused on Bitaco Environmental Training, which builds paths for adults, children and youths, with the aim of achieving an environmental culture that turns the place into a small piece of a sustainable planet.
