THE RESIDENTS OF BITAQUE PARTICIPATING IN WEAVING THE FUTURE

On December 6th, the Himalaya Agricultural Foundation held its Accountability Meeting for the second year of the project “Weaving a Future for a Beautiful and Sustainable Bitaco” (2023–2026), corresponding to the 2024–2025 period. The meeting, an open dialogue, saw broad and active participation from the Bitaco community. Present at the meeting were the Community Action Boards, young municipal councilors, community leaders, and representatives from the La Cumbre Mayor’s Office, strengthening democratic processes and collaborative work between the community, social organizations, and public institutions.

During the meeting, the progress, achievements, and challenges of the second year of implementation, from October 2024 to September 2025, were shared. The results achieved by the Community Action Boards as key actors in strengthening the territory were highlighted, as were the projects implemented by the Foundation focused on environmental education, community development, and sustainability. Citizen participation as a fundamental pillar of transparent and collaborative processes; recognition of the seats held by young people from Bitaco on the Municipal Youth Council; the presentation of the results of the Bitaco Bonito River Route project, aimed at protecting the sub-basin; and the strengthening of local businesses through the Innovation Fund, where products developed by entrepreneurs from the region were showcased.

Finally, goals and projections were established for 2026, reaffirming the Himalaya Agricultural Foundation’s commitment to Bitaco, environmental education, local entrepreneurship, and the sustainable development of the region.
